Butter Rum Baked Pears

This classic treat will charm everyone. Try using different pears for slightly different flavours – Anjou pears offer  smooth texture and slightly less sweet taste, while Bartlett pears up the sweet factor.
Butter Rum Baked Pears with Caramel Praline Passion Ice Cream


  • 4 large pears, peeled, halved and cored
  • 3 tbsp (45 mL ) amber or dark rum
  • 3 tbsp (45 mL ) melted butter
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) lightly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp (2 mL ) each: ground cinnamon and ginger
  • 1/4 tsp (1 mL ) ground nutmeg
  • Breyers Creamery Style Natural Vanilla


Place prepared pears cut side up in baking pan. Drizzle with rum then butter. Sprinkle with sugar and spices.

Bake in 350°F (180°C) oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until pears are tender. Remove pears to serving plates and spoon a bit of sauce over each pear. Serve warm with a scoop of Breyers Creamery Style Natural Vanilla.
